IMPROVING LIVES TOGETHER
Why partner with SATO?
Companies that implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes focused on improving sanitation and hygiene for their employees, not only contribute to a healthier, more productive workforce but also enjoy enhanced reputation, community engagement, and financial benefits.
According to the World Bank, inadequate sanitation cost the global economy the equivalent of $260 billion annually in lost productivity and healthcare expenses. Additionally, Edelman Trust Barometer reports that businesses seen as making a positive impact on their community through health initiatives, including sanitation and hygiene, enjoy significantly higher trust levels.
CSR programmes demonstrate a commitment to responsible business practices and can lead to long-term, sustainable success. Partnering with organisations like SATO can help companies leverage award-winning solutions to make significant strides in sanitation and hygiene, benefiting both the workforce and the broader community.
In good company
One such partnership is with one of Africa’s leading fertiliser companies, Indorama Eleme Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited. Indorama has a unique reach into rural communities across Nigeria – many of whom lack access to basic sanitation facilities and practice open defecation. As part of their CSR initiative we’ve partnered with Indorama to upskill local masons to install our award-winning range of products in farms across Nigeria. This is a truly unique partnership and one that showcases the value that can be created through private sector collaboration. For the full story please see here.

What are the main benefits of SATO products?
Our toilet products are transforming open pit latrines into hygienic and vibrant toilets that add value to the lives of consumers. Award-winning design of our toilet solutions delivers freshness, comfort and safety to households and public institutions that do not have access to running water or sewer systems.
The SATO toilets offer unique benefits that no other toilets provide. Here are our 10 reasons to choose SATO:
- Minimises odours: trap door technology creates an air-tight seal that closes off pit latrines
- No flies or insects: award-winning trap door technology keeps the pit shut when not in use, keeping flies and insects away.
- No visual contact with human waste: the trap door shuts out unpleasant view into dark pit and human waste
- Increased safety: limited outlet aperture helps to prevent young children from accidentally falling into pits.
- Water-saving: our toilets less than 1 litre per flush – 80% less than conventional toilet pans
- Easy to install: can be used in new construction or as a retrofit in existing toilets
- Easy to maintain: SATO Pans can be cleaned by off the shelf products
- Easy to transport: SATO Pans can be stacked, making it easy to transport. Because it is made of rigid plastic, it is resistant to adverse geographies and will not break easily.
- Durable: the trap door technology was tested to last decades if maintained properly
- Affordable: our products have been designed to be affordable and costs, on average, 5 dollars (prices vary in each market).

How can I get the products installed?
All our products are designed to be as accessible and easy to install as possible. Installation procedures vary by product type, latrine configuration, local practices and preferences, and we have created simple how-to guides to answer any of your questions. See more information here.
We also work with local masons who have had training on SATO products. Please reach out to your local retailer for more information or call our Customer Experience Centre.

Do you offer solutions for safely managed sanitation?
Twin-pit latrines built using SATO V-trap are an affordable and effective way to achieve safely managed sanitation. When one pit is full, the waste can be easily redirected to the alternative pit, allowing the waste to compost in the first pit which can be safely disposed of.
