It is estimated that just over 1 in 5 people around the world lack access to basic toilets. To meet the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 6.2 – achieving access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all and to end open defecation by 2030 – investment must quadruple.
We have one of the most innovative solutions on the market and are committed to solving this global crisis. Find out more about our impact so far in tackling this goal.
Sustainable by design
We are leveraging our engineering and design expertise to create sustainable solutions today, and for generations to come.
Improving school sanitation
Through our School Toilet Enhancement Program (STEP), we are improving the toilet facilities for students across Africa.
Empowering women and girls
By providing our products at an affordable price, working to upgrade facilities in schools, and empowering women with the masonry skills they need to install our products, we are breaking down the barriers to women gaining access to better sanitation and hygiene.
During times of crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, we support key stakeholders such as NGOs and local governments.
Building capacity locally
Through our free training programmes, we have upskilled more than 19,000 masons across Asia and Africa.
“Since partnering, we’ve seen that the SATO Toilet is an easy upgrade which can convert open pit toilets to closed pits. This benefits the communities where our workers live and helps ensure they stay safe and healthy.”
