To ensure our solutions match the infrastructure, cultural preferences, and everyday needs of Guatemalan families, SATO conducted a rigorous Product Trial in four departments of Guatemala in 2024-2025.
This study found that families in Guatemala liked SATO products because they are easy to use, reduce the smell of latrines, are clean and washable, good for children and easy to transport in difficult conditions. This study led to our collaborative efforts with local partners to deliver affordable, high-quality sanitation in Guatemala.
At SATO, we know that providing safe sanitation and hygiene requires a reliable, sustainable, and local supply chain. That is why we have partnered with Business Connect to drive the availability and distribution of the SATO Stool and the SATO Tap across Guatemala.
Further, we are partnering with Helvetas Guatemala to build awareness and generate demand for improved sanitation and hygiene solutions in rural communities, beginning in Quiche and Chiquimula. Helvetas will help identify opportunities to introduce SATO solutions, and identify supply chains actors.
Together, we are strengthening community businesses, creating economic opportunities, and providing an affordable path to dignified, clean, and safe toilets.
