What’s in It for You?

Partnering with SATO offers strong commercial opportunities along with impactful social benefits. Since 2013, we’ve empowered thousands of local entrepreneurs to deliver award-winning sanitation solutions to their communities.

Profit with purpose

By joining our retail network, you’re not just running a business; you’re contributing to a greater cause. Each toilet sold improves people’s lives and contributes to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6.2. The World Health Organization estimates that for every US$1 invested in water and sanitation, there is an economic return of approximately US$4. This presents a lucrative opportunity for the right entrepreneur to create a long-term, stable income while improving community health and well-being.

Market opportunity

Households and Institutions: A significant portion of the global population, approximately 3.5 billion people, lack access to improved sanitation facilities. Schools, hospitals, and public spaces often lack these essential amenities. The UN estimates that investment in SDG 6.2 needs to accelerate by fivefold to achieve universal access to sanitation by 2030. This gap represents a massive untapped market for affordable and innovative sanitation solutions.

FAQs

  • Where are SATO products available?

SATO partners with manufacturers in eight countries in Africa and Asia. These are located in India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Indonesia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Nigeria. Products can be shipped worldwide, please contact us for more details.

  • What are the main benefits of SATO products?

Our toilet products are transforming open pit latrines into hygienic and vibrant toilets that add value to the lives of consumers. Award-winning design of our toilet solutions delivers freshness, comfort and safety to households and public institutions that do not have access to running water or sewer systems.

The SATO toilets offer unique benefits that no other toilets provide. Here are our 10 reasons to choose SATO:

    1. Minimises odours: trap door technology creates an air-tight seal that closes off pit latrines
    2. No flies or insects: award-winning trap door technology keeps the pit shut when not in use, keeping flies and insects away.
    3. No visual contact with human waste: the trap door shuts out unpleasant view into dark pit and human waste
    4. Increased safety: limited outlet aperture helps to prevent young children from accidentally falling into pits.
    5. Water-saving: our toilets less than 1 litre per flush – 80% less than conventional toilet pans
    6. Easy to install: can be used in new construction or as a retrofit in existing toilets
    7. Easy to maintain: SATO Pans can be cleaned by off the shelf products
    8. Easy to transport: SATO Pans can be stacked, making it easy to transport. Because it is made of rigid plastic, it is resistant to adverse geographies and will not break easily.
    9. Durable: the trap door technology was tested to last decades if maintained properly
    10. Affordable: our products have been designed to be affordable and costs, on average, 5 dollars (prices vary in each market).
  • How can I get the products installed?

All our products are designed to be as accessible and easy to install as possible. Installation procedures vary by product type, latrine configuration, local practices and preferences, and we have created simple how-to guides to answer any of your questions. See more information here.

We also work with local masons who have had training on SATO products. Please reach out to your local retailer for more information or call our Customer Experience Centre.

  • Do you offer solutions for safely managed sanitation?

Twin-pit latrines built using SATO V-trap are an affordable and effective way to achieve safely managed sanitation. When one pit is full, the waste can be easily redirected to the alternative pit, allowing the waste to compost in the first pit which can be safely disposed of. For more information please see the video here.
