Local Manufacturing and Distribution

In July 2017, SATO partnered with Nice House of Plastics (NHOP) to manufacture SATO products locally in Uganda. This collaboration has enabled the distribution of SATO toilets to over 80% of the country, with products stocked in more than 1,000 outlets across 120 districts. Additionally, over 1,500 masons have been trained to install these units, ensuring proper implementation and maintenance.

Collaborative Campaigns for Behaviour Change

In 2019, SATO collaborated with the USAID Uganda Sanitation for Health Activity (USHA) and NHOP to design the Sons and Daughters of the Soil (SODAS) campaign. This initiative leveraged the influence of young, modern urbanites to promote SATO products, encouraging them to bring city sanitation standards to their rural family homes. The campaign effectively increased brand awareness and empowered local communities to improve sanitation and hygiene practices.

Launch of the I-Trap Toilet Connection System

In July 2024, SATO Uganda introduced the SATO I-Trap, a toilet connection system designed to enhance hygiene and sanitation standards, particularly in communities facing challenges with poor infrastructure. The I-Trap minimizes odors, prevents the entry of flies and other vectors, and supports water conservation by requiring less water per flush compared to traditional systems. This innovation offers a cleaner, safer, and more accessible sanitation experience for families, especially women and children.

Empowering Communities Through Training

SATO is committed to empowering local communities by conducting product demonstrations and training sessions for masons and plumbers across Uganda. These sessions equip professionals with the necessary knowledge to provide excellent support to customers, ensuring the proper installation and maintenance of SATO products.
