SATO launches award-winning Tap in India

Our latest product, the portable, easy-to-use, and award-winning SATO Tap, is now available in India – the second-most populous country in the world. In 2020, after catching COVID-19 and studying the inequity of access to handwashing, which was causing health issues in communities where SATO operates, our Leader – Innovation, Daigo Ishiyama, created the SATO Tap. After several prototypes, Daigo and his team designed a unique solution that uses re-purposed PET bottles and gravity to provide a contamination-free handwashing experience, enabling communities around the world to improve their daily hygiene.

According to the World Health Organization and UNICEF’s Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP), 31% of people in India have limited or no access to basic hygiene facilities – the equivalent of 444 million people. Meanwhile, according to the Indian government’s policy think tank, the NITI Aayog, a significant number of Indians face high to extreme water stress. With increasing water scarcity, communities are faced with a difficult choice: water for hygiene and sanitation or for use in other areas of their lives. That’s why the SATO Tap is the perfect solution.

Like our broader range of award-winning products, the SATO Tap is designed to save water, using just 100ml per wash – 90% less compared to traditional counterparts. This feature, combined with its simple and affordable design will help improve access to adequate handwashing facilities as we expand.

To scale up our operations and bring our solutions to more communities across India, we seek like-minded partners. Whether you are a distributor, manufacturer, or wholesaler, we would love to hear from you.
