Playing our part in a time of crisis

Like any responsible business, we play a key role supporting stakeholders during times of crisis. Leveraging our partnerhips with manufacturers and distributors, as well as with NGOs and local governments, we ensure that our safe and hygienic sanitation solutions are available for key workers and the people in communities affected by crisis.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we collaborated with UNICEF South Asia; the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai Health Department; manufacturer, Nirgandh; and operation and maintenance partners, Triratna Prerana Mandal, and Citizens Association for Child Rights as part of the #FlushTheVirus campaign. As part of this initiative, we installed mobile platforms in various parts of India which were fitted with a SATO Toilet, a handwashing facility, and a mobile water source. This ensured that front-line health workers stayed clean and hygienic while treating patients with COVID-19.

Adapting to changing conditions

Working with key stakeholders and communities in a time of crisis is just one of the many ways that we offer support. Our expertise in product development, innovation, and engineering allows us to imagine innovative solutions to meet changing needs. In 2020, after catching COVID-19 and studying the inequity of access to handwashing, which was causing havoc in communities where SATO operates, our Leader – Innovation, Daigo Ishiyama, took it upon himself to create the SATO Tap. This unique new solution uses re-purposed PET bottles and gravity to provide a contamination-free handwashing experience, enabling communities around the world to maintain their daily hygiene.
